Get your vehicle ready for spring in Saskatchewan.

By CAA Saskatchewan

As the temperature rises in Saskatchewan, many people look forward to spending time outdoors. If you're planning a road trip to one of our many regional parks or visiting your family, it's essential to ensure your vehicle is in good condition. The long, harsh winter season can take a toll on your car, so it's crucial to take care of your vehicle before embarking on your spring adventure.

Here are 5 things you should do to make sure your car is ready for spring:

1. Change your Tires

Once the snow has melted and temperatures are consistently above 7C, it's time to switch your tires from winter to all-season. Keeping your winter tires on too long when it is warm will cause them to wear out much quicker, so you don’t have the misfortune of blowing out one of your winter tires on the side of the road.

If you need some new all-season tires, members can earn up to 120 CAA Dollars with the purchase of 4 eligible tires from Pirelli tires.

2. Test your Battery

Freezing temperatures are harsh on your car battery. Even plugging it during our Saskatchewan winters takes a toll on it. Be sure to get your battery tested and replaced if needed before your weekend adventure.

CAA Battery Depot in Regina can test your battery and replace it without causing a headache and members save 10% on all regular-priced merchandise.

3. Car Wash

The outside of your car also takes a beating from the salt and sand used on the roads during winter. This would be a perfect time to clean away any build-up on your car and have it all ready for spring.

There is no better place to do it than by heading over to a Shell Station, as CAA members SAVE 10% on car washes at participating locations.

4. Routine Maintenance

You want to ensure your car is fit and can reach your destination. Spring is the time to check your car’s manufacturer's maintenance schedule and ensure everything is ready. Nobody is going to enjoy a road trip if your car can’t make the journey.

Stop by a CAA Approved Auto Repair Services (AARS) garage for an engine tune-up, repairs, and other maintenance your car might need for spring.

5. Insurance

Make sure to double-check that your car insurance is in order. Before hitting the road to see this amazing province we live in, the last thing you need is an unfortunate accident to happen and not have coverage.

CAA Members can extend coverage on their vehicles with our CAA Auto Extension Insurance*, allowing them even more peace of mind when travelling on the roads.
